The PSOE is committed to the recovery of the block in which La Casona de los Guevara is located to house this ambitious cultural space, through an action that would serve to enhance the Historic Quarter and with which Lorca would enter the circuit of the traveling exhibitions that travel through the cities of Spain every year in collaboration with the best museums in the world.
The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, María Antonia García Jiménez has presented an ambitious proposal, in cultural matters, aimed at the recovery and enhancement of the Historic Center of Lorca.
The mayor has requested that the City of Lorca take the necessary steps, as acting and intermediary, between the Ministry of Culture, the Historical Heritage Service, the various owners, both individuals and legal entities of the buildings located in the next block in c / Corredera and Juan II, where the Casona de los Guevara and c / Joaquín Espín are located, and the La Caixa banking foundation, with the purpose of locating a CaixForum center as a cultural, outreach and exhibit exhibition, which would be "unique in the Region of Murcia", and similar to those already existing in other cities in Spain.
From the PSOE insist that this idea is carried out, for the cultural, economic and tourism that would entail for our city.
This Foundation, at the beginning of March 2018, has been recognized, by the "Forum of culture and companies", as the commercial company with the largest cultural project in Spain by more than 300 cooperative professionals, managers and cultural agents.
The location of this center in the Casona de los Guevara, from the seventeenth century, would entail the revitalization of that area of ​​the historic center, at the same time that it would improve the quality of the cultural activity of the Lorca society.
García Jiménez is convinced that the CaixaForum brand would result in the goal of making the city a regional reference and put Lorca on the map of the "cultural elite" of Spain.
All the restorations, restorations and renovations of the different centers where CaixaForum is installed, have been executed by excellent and famous professionals that enhance the value of the buildings and promote and support a wide cultural offer.
And in this specific case, it would be the most effective way to talk about the frescoes, paintings and structure of the Guevara house immediately.
In addition, it would not reduce the coffers of the City Council.
The Casona that belonged to D. Alonso García Guevara y Leones, and the adjoining buildings have a surface, between solar and plants, of approximately 3,000 square meters.
The performance in the same would entail the revaluation of the environment and would include Lorca within the circuit of the magnificent traveling exhibitions that every year travel through the cities of Spain in collaboration with the best museums around the world.
The PSOE already requested, as a proposal framed within the pact that led to the recovery of the Historic Center of Lorca the recovery of the House of Los Guevara as a university residence.
