The educational community of the Concerted School "Madre de Dios" Mothers Mercedarias of Lorca, will celebrate next Thursday May 3 at the Plaza de España the Jubilee of La Merced.
It is a very important year for the Mercedarian Order, since 800 years have been celebrated since its foundation by San Pedro Nolasco.
This event will be commemorated in the events for the VI Week of the Family, which began on Friday with an ecological march to the Cejo de los Enamorados, and will offer during these days various activities such as traditional games with family, craft workshop, route through the greenway, storytelling, cooking contest "Mercechef" and many other initiatives and that will end with the contest of music and the Eucharist in honor of the founder of the Order.
Within the programming, highlights this year the celebration of the Jubilee of La Merced for the aforementioned anniversary.
On Thursday, May 3, from 10 am, the Plaza de España will host the more than 800 students of the College, who will stage the shield of the Order of Mercy and the olive tree, Mercedarian symbol representing the dream of Pedro Nolasco , who inspired by Maria de la Merced founded the Order in 1218 under the protection of King Jaime I of Aragon.
In the same way, the students of the Secondary room will be in charge of carrying out a dramatized representation on the history of the foundation, and finally all the students and professors will realize a flash mob.
