The candidate for mayor of Lorca by the Socialist Party, Manuel Soler, held a meeting crowded with social groups in the municipality to raise alternatives with respect to the model of citizen participation.
The meeting, held in the palace hall of the Garden Ruano, filled to the brim, attended neighborhood associations, women, old and young people across the municipality.
Among the proposals presented by Manuel Soler is the creation of District Councils and councils, replacing the current figure of the village headman.

Soler has determined the incorporation of this measure to the PSOE's electoral program for the municipal elections of 2011 to endorse it on his party's internal consensus and social groups.
To this end, announced the holding of technical meetings on citizen participation in the festivities last September.
At the same, with the advice of technical experts in the field and, after examination of various experiences of other municipalities, "try to make an alternative model to the current, more modern, democratic and more participatory," said Soler.
Manuel Soler also made reference to the need to implement sectoral councils for each of the sectors of municipal activity.
These bodies of citizen participation would come to replace the Municipal Councils that the current mayor, Francisco Jodar recently abolished.
In this regard, the PSOE candidate said at least socio-economic areas, Public Safety, Planning, Infrastructure and Services, Education, Culture, Sports, Youth, Women, Health, Consumer Affairs and Environment, Social Welfare and Seniors must have bodies which are represented civil society organizations related, so they can inform the City Council on specific industry issues, alternative solutions, make proposals or follow up on the resolutions adopted by the council, among other functions.
Soler also propose the creation of an office and Claims Initiative in which there will be a book available to all residents and entities, and whose content will account monthly to the Commission of Government.
