The Socialist Party calls on the Assembly aid for farmers to recycle plastic greenhouses (23/07/2010)

Socialist MP, Bartolome Soler, has filed a motion in the Regional Assembly which requested the Government to grant regional aid to farmers who contribute to improving the quality of the environment and sustainable development of the sector.

Earlier this July, COAG agrarian organization claimed that ninety tons of plastic are going to run out provide, in Guadalentín Valley, in the absence of an authorized agent to carry out the removal of this material used by farmers .

The lack of government response to this situation, once the task of collection of plastics, is causing an economic problem for farmers and severe damage to the environment in those places with a tradition in this farming techniques.

Recycling

Socialist MP calls for the establishment of Agricultural Green Points (PLA) in the producing areas and a plan to build two plastics recycling plants (PRP) in the Valley Guadalentín and Campo de Cartagena, as well as other plant for the energy use of plastics (PEAP).

The development of plastic packaging for transport, used by farmers, made from sustainable materials, renewable and biodegradable are tasks to be applied to different administrations.

The ultimate goal will be to ensure economic efficiency, environmental friendliness and promotion of the competitiveness of our food production.

"There are other elements, also pollutants, such as plastic containers and accessories used in agriculture, for which new approaches must be sought, with the help of manufacturers and consumers, without excessive consumption of these components."

Soler argued that successive drafts of plans for waste in the Region of Murcia provide different solutions for the treatment and recycling of plastic accumulating in the field, after completing his role in certain types of crops.

The Socialist Party has repeatedly denounced the delay in approving the Plan of waste and waste law.

Therefore requests that anticipate the measures planned to tackle this problem.

Bartolomé Soler recalled that recently, Lorca farmers complained about the high cost of disposing of plastics by an authorized agent.

"That makes it increasingly necessary to establish collection points for agricultural and construction plastics recycling plants and energy use of the same," he concluded.
