The Socialist councilor Lucia Sanchez, today expressed concern at the stoppage of the works of the Centre for Women in the C / Cava, which is run by the Autonomous Community and the city of Lorca.
Sanchez recalled that in July 2008, the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration and the Consistory lorquino signed an agreement for the construction of this center, located on Calle Cava, budgeted at 1.4 million euros, of which the Institute Women, recently deleted, finance 1,050,000.

The PSOE mayor said news of the works are now paralyzed for three months, which in the opinion of the mayor is a "very bad news" for women in municipalities.
Sanchez asked to explain whether the cessation is due to the abolition of the Women's Institute by the regional government.

The PSOE Councillor advanced the feeling of disappointment that women feel Lorca and groups representing them when they know that the City Council and the Autonomous Community, the construction of the Centre for Women of Lorca is secondary and not a priority.

Sanchez has also asked why the mayor of PP, Francisc Jódar, not being assertive with the regional government.
In that sense, he demanded an explanation and to comply with the commitments it has with women's groups in the municipality.
