The president of the Community of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, today inaugurated the Campus of Lorca, a pioneer school in Spain for its innovation, higher education, combining academic and vocational training .
Valcárcel, accompanied by the Minister for Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marin, and the rectors of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Cobacho, and UPCT, Felix Faure, toured the new facilities, in which the autonomous region has invested 24 million euros.
The Lorca Campus houses a total of 130 students in grades Nursing and Human Nutrition and Dietetics, which manages the University of Murcia, and classes begin on 13 October.
In addition, this course will also provide the Master of Social Economy, organized by the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena.
The new campus of Lorca, created by the regional government together with the Government of Lorca and public universities in the region, and designed by architect Martin Lejarreta, has three main buildings, located on a parcel of 27,000 square meters, plus a parking for 275 vehicles.
Specifically, the first building is intended for general services, administration, management, direction and departments, with over 40 offices and a hall of 250 square meters.
The school building has four floors and is equipped with lounges, five laboratories, eight classrooms for practice and demonstration and three classrooms for theory.
Also, the campus has a building for the library, which also has a newspaper library, two computer rooms, reading rooms and a general dependence study.
During his speech, the head of the Murcia said: "Today is an important day and we must all feel proud of this campus, which brings together university and vocational training in an area of great expansion and future as the WHO. This infrastructure can be established pathways and recognition of credits from the FP to the University. "
In addition to the qualifications to be taught starting on 13 October, is expected mid-term grades can be incorporated into occupational therapy or podiatry and master's degree in Audiology and Health Documentation.

"This center will serve to stimulate the productive economy of the region of Guadalentín to generate quality jobs, and revitalize the neighborhoods of San Cristobal, San Diego and Los Angeles, to recover a military infrastructure in the area for teaching."
Valcárcel also stressed that the creation of this campus has had the full support of the social and economic as well as provide input into the Campus of International Mare Nostrum.
