Manuel Soler proposes a moratorium on the entry into force of the EU directive which endangers the market sellers (08/10/2010)

The PSOE's candidate for mayor calls on the PP MEP Cristina Gutiérrez-Cortines, explaining the directive to affected employers and provide formulas to guide it to meet the needs of street vending sector.

The PSOE candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Manuel Soler, has announced it will hold a meeting with the Association of Market Vendors Lorca, very concerned about the transposition of EU directive on liberalization of services market (Directive Bolkestein).

Street vendors complain that the transposition of European Directive will force reallocation of positions in the markets, so the unemployed could be dozens of people who have spent decades working in the sector, and they depend on the support of their families.

Representatives of traders say that with this policy any European citizen can choose every four years to go in the cast of the areas of trade in the markets, which is detrimental to traders who have spent years putting the work of street vending so regulated and controlled.

In this sense, responsible for the retail sector, according to the Directive, traders who have an investment in mobile sales have yet to repay secured their place in the market.

However those who do not have outstanding any investment to be amortized will have to choose, to the City of Lorca, to get a space in your market on equal terms with the new traders who want to work in the municipality.

And explain that the municipality may give or take away licenses to traders hawking every four years when in the new legislation.

As the Region of Murcia has exclusive competence in trade, Manuel Soler asked the regional government to request the repeal of the rule, or apply the same formula as in the Community of Madrid, which vendors have a 15-year moratorium before implementing the EU directive.

This measure could mean "a relief" to the more than 250 autonomous mobile sales business, which meet in Lorca each week, according to Manuel Soler.

The socialist candidate for mayor calls on the PP MEP Cristina Gutiérrez-Cortines, explaining the directive to affected employers and provide formulas to guide it to meet the needs of street vending sector.

In this regard, Manuel Soler has criticized the majority force in the European Parliament "has not measured the consequences for small entrepreneurs" of this decision.

It also regretted that the PP has not fought a better law for our sellers market. "

Finally, Manuel Soler also wants to show its willingness to work with the merchants in the markets to ensure their job security.

For this, one may be elected Mayor of Lorca, will undertake to promote, from the Federation of Municipalities Murcia measures that result in stability and job security and market traders in improving their working conditions.
