In 2010 the Government of Spain has financed 700,000 euro to the National Drug Plan in the Region of Murcia

The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, has been honored with the appointment of Honorary Member by the Association for Children and Parents Against Drugs (NYPACOLD).

In his speech of thanks, González Tovar has highlighted the good functioning of the National Drug Plan, which now serves 25 years, and was launched by Health Minister Ernest Lluch.

Tovar Gonzalez thanked the distinction of NYPACOLD and congratulated them for the excellent work done to improve care, prevention and social integration of people with drug problems.

He also congratulated the Security Forces of the State for the effectiveness of Police Response Strategic Plan Trafficking and Drug Retailer in Schools and Recreation Areas.

With the same last year in the Region of Murcia, conducted 2,421 inspections, dozens of interviews with school principals, representatives of entertainment companies and partnerships of neighbors and parents and arrested 24 people in those environments.

In fact, reports that the latest report of Drug Use in Secondary Education has found that cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis among young people is the lowest in this decade and that has increased the perception of risk among these by the drug.

Moreover, Gonzalez Tovar explained that the National Drug Strategy 2009-2016, launched by the Ministry of Health and Social Policy, focuses on drug policy action for the next eight years, concerted action by the Administration and social entities, with the primary aim of increasing the perceived risk of drug use and appealing to the responsibility of citizens to get involved and engage in prevention.

Further informed that this year the Government of Spain has allocated 700,000 euros to the Region of Murcia to finance the activities of the National Strategy.
