The City claims that the modernization of irrigation of Tercia La Hoya is not included in the PGE in 2011 (19/10/2010)

The beginning of the work has been announced up to 4 times since 2008, falling on deaf ears and every one of them.

While Zapatero has spent more than EUR 310 million desalination plant Eagles Tercia modernization remains stalled.

Agriculture Councilman of the City of Lorca, Angel Mecca, has publicly denounced this morning that works for the modernization of irrigation in the village of La Tercia and part of Hoya are already suffering a backlog of 3 years.

Mecca has indicated that successive delays if these were not enough, since the Zapatero government is not reflected even a single euro for the completion of this work during 2011.

The Councillor for Agriculture has stated that "it is unpresentable that after so long now we come with that are not going to do this work in 2011. We're talking about that in the best case, the work could be included in the budgets of 2012, what we think is a real nonsense. From the city of Lorca not going to "swallow" with this and we will do everything possible so that from the Zapatero government side to stop farmers Tercia La Hoya who are the real victims of this mass of absurdities by the socialist government.

Angel Meca has noted that there have been many occasions in which they have announced the start of construction for the modernization of irrigation in Tercia, starting with the announcement in late February 2008 by the then Minister of Environment Cristina Narbona , passing by the former president of the CHS, José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, as well as the Secretary of State for Environment, Rural Water, Josep Puxeu, on a visit to Lorca in July 2009.

On the latter occasion even put a specific date for the start of construction, which was reported to begin before Christmas 2 years ago

Funding ghost

Once modernized much of the risks of traditional irrigation, as is the case for Torrecilla, Campillo, La Hoya, the banks, Marchena and, more recently Cazalla, is just the phase of modernization of Tercia La Hoya .

We're talking about an area of 3,101 hectares, of which 1,128 and 2,073 belong to Tercia belong to La Hoya, whose funding (according to announcements made in this regard on several occasions) will be borne by the Segura basin, with a budget of close to 30 million euros.

Detail was also reached that the project be funded from extrabudgetary manner by the Central Government.

Once established the successive delays, once again announced the start of construction, this time before the summer of 2010, leaving the passage of time shows the invalidity of all past announcements.

The reality is that today no work has begun, and this has aggravated the discomfort and uncertainty of neighbors and farmers for the delay in the works.

For 2011, again, the State Budget does not provide for any budget for this purpose, assuming a more and more delay increasing unrest among the citizens of these districts.

The City requires the commencement of works and their inclusion in PGE

Given the repeated failures and delays on the part of the Zapatero government, the City Council of Lorca, through the Department of Agriculture, to be requested by a motion which will be the next plenary session that the National Government to clarify as soon as possible when you are performing this work, whose launch has been announced up to 4 times with so many different dates, but so far progress has been made on the subject.

Moreover, since the city council will also claim the Government's Office to cover the entire project of modernization of irrigation in Tercia La Hoya in the budgets for 2011, to comply with what was promised in previous years.
