The Civil Guard dismantled a cocaine distribution network between Madrid, Almeria and Murcia (03/11/2010)

The Civil Guard intercepted a shipment of 1'400 kg of cocaine led to four of the detainees.

Civil Guard, as part of Operation "Glacial", developed in the towns of Zurgena (Almería), Lorca (Murcia), has proceeded to the arrest of 5 persons, having committed a crime against public health, money laundering and illegal possession of weapons.

The arrest is the result of investigations conducted by the Guardia Civil, for just over 5 months, in the prosecution of drug trafficking to medium and small scale.

The Guardia Civil investigation began, to detect the activities of an extended family, living in the town of Almeria Zurgena, whose members runs a drug outlet.

In its findings the Civil Guard officers detected the constant activity of the people surveyed, who set a 24-hour shifts a day to serve its customers, while important security measures taken to avoid arrest.

The matriarch leads each and every one of the activities of each of the members of his family and responsible for the safekeeping and administration of capital raised from drug trafficking, along with their two children.

During their investigations, officers of the Guardia Civil detected contacts between one of the researchers and their supplier, who established the delivery of a significant quantity of cocaine, by the end of last October.

These contacts allow the Guardia Civil realize that the person who supplied the cocaine, as part of a network that has its headquarters in the province of Madrid, where they have the necessary contacts for the purchase of large quantities of drugs, for subsequent sale and distribution in various parts of the southeast peninsula, personally taking care delivery.

At this point, the investigation into the Civil Guard to identify one of its major clients, based in the town of Lorca and Murcia, who, building on the same trip, also going to supply cocaine.

Since that time, the Civil Guard officers establish a discrete surveillance device around those investigated by detecting the movements of the supplier of cocaine during the past October 24.

The Civil Guard investigation provides information about the delivery of cocaine that were going to do during that night, at a point near the town of Zurgena (Almería), where an arrest and the seizure of 3 parcels totaling 1'456 kg of cocaine hidden in a cab traveling located in the rear bumper of a vehicle.

In the final phase of the operation, the Civil Guard conducted two searches of homes in the towns of Zurgena (Almería), Lorca (Murcia), which involved a handgun, the first of the homes, as well as jewelry, money cash balances of precision in both.

The Guardia Civil investigation remains open, so do not rule out further arrests related to the facts.

The proceedings initiated by the Civil Guard, along with the detainees, were delivered to the Magistrate's Court No 2 of Huércal Overa (Almería), who ruled for FC, and José Luís AL entering prison.
