The PSOE describes the situation of students of IES No. 6, "Third, unhealthy and dangerous" (18/01/2011)

The councilman of the PSOE in Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has echoed the demands of today's educational community Secondary School No. 6, four years after its creation, has not its own building so that students receive classes in barracks located in the public school playground Juan González (Barrio de San Cristóbal).

Mateos was a photo essay of the facilities in which about 130 students receive daily lessons and he called the "tercemundistas, unhealthy and dangerous."

For the Socialist councilor of the situation is "unacceptable" not only from the educational point of view because "it is also a problem of public health and safety for the students."

As shown in the pictures, students are crammed into "barracks" lacking proper air conditioning so "hot weather the temperature inside is unbearable," while at times like this, become cold and damp classes in "unbearable."

"The parents have explained that this Christmas the cards of the notes came to the house wet because of the humidity in these facilities," said Matthew.

In addition, lack of insulation and soundproofing of the barracks produces constant interruptions in class when elementary students use the courtyard.

Moreover, the PSOE mayor said students are "confined" in a small space for recreation, "which becomes impractical when it rains and full of debris and power lines, with the danger that entails."

In the absence of a practice space for physical education, students in IES number 6 should move to the football field Alfonso Spread, for which they must cross a street with heavy traffic of trucks that ply the nearby factories.

To make matters worse, the classrooms for laboratory and other stores have become material and therefore not used for educational purpose.

Mateos denounced the ongoing "tricks" that are under the parents of these students by the PP government team in Lorca.

The council recalled that in June 2009, the PSOE alerted to the placement of the barracks, "something that was denied by Councilman José Joaquín Peñarrubia Employment."

Nor have met the deadlines for implementation of the new building, which should have been put into operation in October last year.

However, the works are stalled for weeks.

According to the PSOE has been told through the mouths of those involved, the Autonomous Community have transferred the money to build the institute to the city of Lorca, but it would not have paid the contractor certification works, so he would have chosen to stop them .

Therefore, Mateos announced that his party will request a report to be ratified if the City received the money and what has been the fate of this because, apparently, has not been used to pay the institute works.

The PSOE also increased to full motion for the resumption of construction of the HEIs and to develop "an acceptable pace."

Also require the taking of necessary measures to that in the meantime, the temporary facilities are packed so that they are worthy for the 130 students receiving training there.

Also, the Socialists will give account to the Inspectorate of Education to take action on the matter.
