The town of Rincon de Almendricos Argaric is "an archaeological treasure of the highest importance" to the interpretation of this time (28/01/2011)

This morning we have proceeded to the inauguration of the enhancement of the archaeological site.

The mayor has stated that "the wealth of archaeological sites that have our town does not exist anywhere else, we must continue investing in its recovery and use."

Lorca's mayor, Francisco Jodar has chaired this morning the inauguration of the enhancement of the corner site Almendricos Argaric recently declared of Cultural Interest (BIC).

The mayor expressed his "satisfaction that a site is as emblematic as the order is in the best position to ensure their preservation and to become a learning space open to the public. It is very important in a town like Lorca, respect and care for our past and that can help us better understand our present and our future. With the intervention in this invaluable archaeological remains and opening for the visits, we take a giant step in the recovery of the outstanding equity lorquino and show how important it is to pamper our socio-cultural heritage. "

An intervention focused on 3 aspects: restore, repair and complement

The mayor has indicated that the intervention carried out between October and December 2010 has been divided into three concepts:

1.

Restore the original materials on the site.

2.

Repair materials added in the implementation of the plan museum in 1998.

3.

Add modifications to this plan in order to improve understanding of archaeological features remaining in the reservoir.

Specifically, we have implemented the following actions:

Installation of new signs that indicate access to the site.

Exchange of information panels for complete and updated designs.

We have included new interpretive signs at each of the structures that travels the road that marks the route of access.

The posters are bilingual (English and Spanish) and have been teaching drawing to facilitate understanding of the archaeological remains.

To complete the didactic discourse of the site included two replications of burial vessels located on the side of the Houses of the Loom, where they were found two urn burials.

Also been made brochures bilingual (English and Spanish) with information to facilitate access and understanding of the archaeological site.

5 houses and 9 original cist graves

During the visit to the site can be seen, following the itinerary planned, the remains of 5 houses and 9 original cist graves and the recreation of two urn burials.

Along with the homes and graves have been located 11 panels that provide information on what was found inside the houses and graves.

The mayor thanked the Fundación Caja Murcia collaboration with the city council in the financing of the 28,000 euros that have been required to carry out restoration work of archaeological and museological.

Jódar Francisco explained that the work has been performed by the company GEA Lorca and directed by Maria Quiñones López restoration, supervised archaeological Andrés Martínez Rodríguez, Director of the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Lorca.

The restoration project and the deposit musealization Corner has received the required permit from the Department of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage of the Autonomous Community of Murcia.
