Parkinson's patients and their families can enjoy from today's new focus to the disease (04/02/2011)

The new facilities include a gym, classrooms for workshops and offices, all fully furnished.

The Ministry of Social Policy has addressed the total investment, while the City Council has given the property

Lorca's mayor, Francisco Jodar, visited this morning the new Parkinson's Care Center, the City of our city, with the collaboration of the CARM has made available to the group and is located on River Street Guadalentín near the barracks of the Guardia Civil.

The mayor, who was accompanied to the council for Development Cooperation, Mari Carmen Ruiz, has reported that this new facility represents an investment of 90,000 euros, provided by the CARM, while Hall has provided the building which hosts this service.

The new headquarters has a distribution that includes 2 offices (1 for the social worker and one for the psychologist) and a room for the provision of therapy, baths and a gym.

The latter is perfectly equipped for the practice of physiotherapy.

The mayor highlighted the work being done by the group which owns the Parkinson Association Lorca, "this is a very necessary that this entity is providing since its inception in 2002. This new facility, which the City Council We have been working for several years, addresses a historical demand. It should be noted that the association began its activities in a room assigned by the Consistory. It was later moved to the social center of crossing, a place that did not meet the minimum conditions accessibility and it was adapted for the purpose in question. The mayor has said that at present this partnership brings together 200 members, and directly benefits more than 30 patients, who take advantage of the activities organized by the entity.

In the new Centre for People with Parkinson Care will develop workshops memory, cognitive stimulation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, family support groups, as well as social, psychological and administrative.
