Activity of the amounts for 2010 (14/02/2011)

The councilman of Social Services of the City of Lorca, Lali Ibarra has reported that Rush Service Municipal Social Care (SUMS), launched by the municipality during the current legislature, attended last year a total of 51 people in 48 operations, working in sensitive situations such as suicide attempts, violence in the family, fire, child wandering lost and alone, or purchase food for the needy.

The total number of people served, is 51.

Of these, 20 women, 16 children and 15 men.

With regard to the nationality of those being treated by the service, 39 are Spanish and the remaining immigrants from different countries.

Most children treated in the service have been with their mothers, in cases such as assault and reporting, but on 3 occasions been involved with children who were alone, in need.

Lali Ibarra said that the need for this municipal service has been fully demonstrated on the basis of the data that shows the balance of 2010.

This is a device put in place in most of the time, at the request of bodies and government forces, local police and 112.

In this regard it is noteworthy that the coordination with the above bodies has been greatest, in order to respond to various social problems and incidents that arise.

These bodies greatly appreciate the availability of a resource that provides a simple solution to situations that previously could be very complicated, depending on time of day you submit.

Along with the security forces, institutions such as hospitals Rafael Mendez and Virgen del Alcázar, and NGOs with whom we have collaborated, as ASOFEM or El Buen Camino, have also seen the work of the sums on various occasions, commenting on the satisfaction and Lorca is a need in the service.

The SUMS counts among its staff with a psychologist, two social workers and a driver.

Please note that sometimes has worked with various sectors at a time, as there are sectors that may be associated, as in the case of transients with alcoholism, drug addiction or mental illness.
