Start at the XVI Certamen Lorca Socio Cultural and Sports Senior (17/02/2011)

The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, presided today at the Teatro Guerra Lorca, the opening day of the XVI Certamen Cultural and Sports partner for the Elderly, which will run until November, with shows in Cieza , Roldán (Torre Pacheco), Yecla, San Javier, Caravaca de la Cruz, Puerto de Mazarron Molina de Segura, Abarán, Cotillas Towers, Cartagena, La Unión, Murcia, Jumilla.

Accompanying the Minister on this opening day, attended by about 360 people, the managing director of the Institute of Social Action Murciano, Isabel Sola, which organizes the event, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar.

The event opened with drama, led by Senior Social Center of Murcia I, performance of the Sewell Center rondalla and regional dance by the Centre de Molina de Segura.

This was followed by exhibitions trails and waltz ballroom of the winners of last year, and other modalities such as tango and paso doble, closing choral performances of Lorca Senior Center.

Then the director, accompanied by the mayor and the managing director of IMAS, presented a gift and a certificate to the winners of painting competition last year, which serves as a poster for this.

The authors are Josefina López Salinas, José López Martínez Otero Felipe Roldán.

The day ended with a lunch of coexistence in a city restaurant.

In the 2011 contest involving all senior centers dependent on the IMAS, consisting of five homes and 18 community centers and day.

The objectives of the competition are to encourage personal relationships through participation, linkages to enable communication between different centers, encourage conservation and transmission of traditional values through its art and craft and create common spaces encourage the development of personal interests.

Also, the event is a commitment to personal empowerment, reflected in the development of a range of activities that contribute to personal development and the maintenance of independence and, ultimately, to improving the quality of life.

Partners include Cajamurcia, through an agreement with the Autonomous Community, and all municipalities in which activities take place and the local police and Red Cross.
