The PSOE de Lorca calls for the resignation of the Councillor for Citizen Security (18/03/2011)

The PSOE de Lorca today called for the resignation of Public Safety Councilman PP, Belén Pérez, for his "inability" to handle such an important service in the city and the local police.

The socialist mayor, Isabel Casaladuero showed their solidarity with the agents of this body, almost a hundred, who yesterday expressed his displeasure not going to act in celebration of its patron.

Of the 140 officers who have Lorca, only about thirty attended the activities scheduled by the City Council, of which twenty were forced to find cover acts of service.

Casalduero recalled that, apart from non-payment of salaries by the council, a debt amounting to more than one hundred million pesetas, which remains unresolved, the local cops have a different set of claims also very serious.

In that sense, the mayor, said that "our police officers, responsible for ensuring the safety of all Lorca, are being forced to carry out their work without the minimal conditions to ensure their safety."

"It's not working with patched pants or uniforms of local police forces from other municipalities is that they are vulnerable to communication systems that do not work and leave them lying around, despite the fortune that the government team spent on some machines bought and discontinued, "said Casalduero.

The PSOE reported that police are those who are forced to patrol cars that are 20 years old, "yes, it tells them to go undercover, so that citizens do not contemplate the sad conditions that have to our police work, "complained Casalduero.

To make matters worse, the decision of the PP mayor, Francisco Jodar, to remove the deposit prison, forced to enable a cell in the local police headquarters, with no minimum guarantees of security.

On yesterday, Casalduero echoed several press unions in which the representatives of the police complain about the "politicization that has become the standard act of the day making it a must-attend event."

"It's painful coercion and dictatorship it lately we are being subjected, some of our elected officials forget that we are in democracy and that we are entitled," reads one of the letters written by a union.

The PSOE Councillor explained that this arose because when the police expressed their intention not to attend the celebrations of St. Patrick in protest at the situation they are living, they received threats and coercion that left the PP government team and through who were trying to force to go to this event, "so that the citizens of Lorca are not aware of what is happening to your local police."

He explained the mayor, "even they even threatened to take away the complement of availability if not attending the official celebrations."

For the PSOE's refusal to join Jódar this group is "irresponsible" and "shameful" and is causing the division of the workforce, "as we have tried to do with many neighborhood groups."

There has been no consensus on the decorations

Some police unions have also expressed in writing their "dissatisfaction" and "disagreement" with the proposal of the Department of Public Safety on the granting of honors and awards to members of the local police.

The police complain that there has been no consensus "clear majority and after" between the authorities and bodies such as government team, opposition and trade unions, which affects such concessions, as well as social entities in a disinterested congratulate or recognize the body or its individual components.

In this sense, Casalduero explained that the Municipal Socialist Group was summoned to a meeting by Councilmember Perez Bethlehem, where he became a closed proposal, which brooked no argument as to who would be distinguished this year and implied that it had been agreed with those involved.
