Lorca and tourists will visit on Monday the Church of Santa Maria after the first phase of its restoration (15/04/2011)

"Lorca Taller del Tiempo" a conference organized open free to visit this temple on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Councillor of Tourism of the Municipality of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, has reported that "after an initial phase of consolidation of the ruins, the Church of Santa Maria and is visited by Lorca and tourists."

Therefore, from "Lorca Taller del Tiempo" has been held three Open Days to admire the monument after the work done.

These free tours will be held on Monday 18, Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 April, 14.00 and 11.30 hours from 16.30 to 20.30.

The Church of Santa Maria is part of the village of the town of Lorca, declared historical artistic in 1964 and is an important visual focus within the network profile and monumental city.

For this reason it was considered necessary to intervene in the monument with the aim of preserving, promoting cultural and tourist use to know and understand the history of this landmark church.

The consolidation work and value have made it possible to adapt the church to the tour.

These works have been carried out with funding from the Plan to Promote Tourism Product of Lorca with a total investment of € 834,788.38, involving the city of Lorca, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism .

After the open house, "Lorca Taller del Tiempo" incorporates the Church of Santa Maria to its exhibition space, in which guided tours from the Visitors Center, located in the Convent of La Merced.
