The Community and the City Council have reviewed 40 percent of the buildings in Lorca (12/05/2011)

The counselor indicates that 44 percent of buildings have been marked with green color, 17 percent red and 39 percent yellow

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, offered this afternoon a press conference to provide a first assessment of the current state of buildings and homes affected by the earthquake registered yesterday city, which have been revised to 40 percent of the buildings.

"The development of the work, has divided the town of Lorca in a grid of 26 assessment areas. We now have information of 19 of them," said José Ballesta, who specified that "we have reviewed about 40 percent of the buildings, representing a total of 542 buildings. "

Also, the coordinating team led from the Community and the City Council has established a color code to identify buildings that are being marked by more than 200 professionals deployed among architects, engineers, surveyors and technicians from the government and voluntary professional associations in the region, who thanked the Minister for his "solidarity work."

The assessment, which has begun in the area hardest hit by the earthquake, is based on a color code visible at the entrance of each building.

The buildings marked in green are completely secure access, so tenants can return to their homes.

The marked in red have some structural damage and is banned for access at the moment.

The buildings identified with the yellow did not have structural damage, so residents can come to collect their belongings, but must not stay there because the homes may pose a risk to your ability and you need the intervention of the Fire EMU and to eliminate any risk.

"The strength of the Military Emergency Unit and the Fire are accessing each building marked with a yellow color after appropriate work will be marked with the green, so that tenants can return home safely," said José Ballesta.

The Minister said that currently 44 percent of buildings have been marked with green color, 17 percent red and 39 percent yellow.

Also, the counselor said already restored water services, electricity and telephone were cut for safety and indicated that the evaluation work in the buildings are still in development.
