The Government will co-finance the recovery of local public infrastructure Lorca Earthquake (01/06/2011)

The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Administration distributed aid to more than 50 percent of the budget required for each rehabilitation project

It will finance the repair or replacement of municipal property for the provision of public services existing prior to the earthquake of May 11

The Government, through the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Administration, co-financed the rehabilitation or replacement of municipal infrastructure for the provision of public services have been affected by Lorca earthquake on 11 May.

The amount of state aid shall be regulated by a ministerial order and will involve up to 50 percent of the budget for each project requested.

Secretary of State for Regional Cooperation, Gaspar Zarrías, announced the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, the Government's initiative during a meeting that the two have held this morning at the headquarters of the consistory Lorca.

This meeting was also attended by the delegate of the Government in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, director general of the Ministry for Local Cooperation, Maria Llanos Castilian, the council of Agriculture, Rural Development, Works and Services, Angel Ramon Mecca and Councilman Education, University and Internal Affairs, José Joaquín Peñarrubia.

RETROACTIVE EFFECT

Secretary of State has informed local officials that the infrastructure affected by the earthquake to be recovered according to the ministerial order are covered by Articles 25 and 26 of the Basic Law on Local Government (Chapter 3 of 'Skills' .)

This includes not only the financing of the works that will be tender after the publication of the order, but also will cover those investment contracts or live performances that were made by absolute necessity before it.

The publication of the ministerial decree to regulate the financing of municipal infrastructure affected by the earthquake will be made after receiving the Government's initial valuation of the damage to public property by the municipality of Lorca, and once the Ministry of Finance has enabled the budget for these actions, which will be transferred from the Contingency Fund.

Following the publication of the order, the City shall have a period of one month to submit all applications, which must include the name and description of the work and the budget of the same with the taxes included in a report with photographs.

Will the Government Delegation in Murcia who made an initial examination of compliance with the requirements and later transferred to the Directorate General for Local Cooperation of the Ministry, who shall make the grant allocation for each project.
