Tourism experts analyzed in Lorca rural development potential of the sector (21/06/2011)

The Director General of Tourism, Marina Garcia, opened today by the Councillor of Tourism of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, the V Conference on Rural Tourism to be held until next Thursday.

The event is organized by the University of Murcia in collaboration with the Department of Tourism of the Municipality of Lorca.

The Service Director for Tourism Promotion of Navarra, Carmen Oroz Iribarren, will share with participants the experiences in rural tourism in this region.

Also participating directors of the three colleges of tourism in the region, and the president of the Federation of Rural Tourism in the Region of Murcia, Carmen Alvarez Sandoval and Antonio López, a consultant who will bring experience on the marketing of products Rural Tourism.

Statistics

According to the National Institute of Statistics, in 2010 32,277 visitors traveled to rural areas of the Region, representing an increase of 3 percent over 2009.

There is an increase of international travelers 60 percent between 2009 (769) and 2010 (1,225 visitors).
