The City Council will convene a joint tender for the best architectural studios in Spain to present their projects to rebuild the Vineyard (14/07/2011)

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, has announced that the City will hold a joint public competition of ideas for the comprehensive reconstruction of the barrio of La Vina.

The mayor explained that this is a contest that will be convened by the Planning Department with the aim of the most prestigious architectural studios in Spain to present their projects to rebuild the neighborhood.

In this way the residents will have a range of ideas from which you can choose the most appropriate to consider.

The main objective of this competition is to have the best projects for the rehabilitation of this popular neighborhood lorquina become an opportunity to turn this area of the city in a modern, equipped with communications infrastructure improvements, with more aesthetic, comfortable and accessible to its residents.

It also contemplates the need to create new open spaces with greenery, which will be one of the requests raised by the City Council who submit their projects.

Reconstruction plans for the Vineyard, which is the area most affected by the earthquake of May 11 will be presented to the neighbors to be the ones who decide which seems most appropriate, involving them in making the final decision.

The City Council is committed to overall reconstruction projects

The Mayor said that the Consistory Municipal been working on this idea for weeks.

Francisco Jodar has indicated that the full rehabilitation of areas damaged by earthquakes has also been suggested by officials of the European Union during the mission work that has developed this week.

The mayor has said that this mission brings "a good impression, and which has proved very useful in clarifying how we do things and what procedures we follow to obtain EU funding to rebuild our town. The meetings I have with EU officials have served to make them get what is Lorca and extent of the damage caused by earthquakes. Now the EU has to face the records and know first hand the magnitude of this tragedy. From this moment have direct access to the EU. In fact it is they who have advised us in advance we refer to the documentation, its necessary, have the opportunity to complete it. In this sense, we want the final decision on the record that we are preparing access to the solidarity fund is taken in September. We're talking high rigid procedures and bureaucracy, which can not fail.

The mayor reported that this mission has also helped to know that there are other funds of the EU you can get funding for the reconstruction of the municipality, as is the case of cohesion funds and the reallocation of the ERDF.

Francisco Jodar noted, in this sense, the EU also provides financial aid to fund buildings that meet the criteria of accessibility, communications and energy, so these funds can also serve Lorca.

The mayor considered "reasonable" to extend the deadline for grant applications

Francisco Jodar said that in recent weeks are showing damage to buildings that had not been detected previously.

That is why we consider it reasonable to extend the deadline for submission of applications for assistance for the rehabilitation of both houses to finance the construction demolition and debris removal.

This is a move in the general interest of Lorca and common sense.

Those who now have these applications must have the same treatment and opportunities as before.

In this sense, the Local Government of the City of our city approved a motion calling for the indefinite extension of this deadline, given the special circumstances presented by the case of Lorca.
