The Community created a working group to expedite aid to quake-hit homes Lorca (21/07/2011)

The regional administration and local government agree to request the participation in the design of a global strategy to solve urban problems after the earthquake caused

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, Antonio Sevilla, today announced the creation of a working group composed of technical experts from regional and local administration which will meet weekly in Lorca, in order to expedite aid records to households affected by the earthquake last May.

The first meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday.

Antonio Sevilla made the remarks after a meeting with the Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, who agreed to start work on a joint strategy for actions involving real estate and urban development, in order to solve the problems caused by earthquakes from a global perspective.

Both the Autonomous Community and the City Council expressed the need for the State General Administration of part of this initiative "because it goes beyond the financial capacity of both institutions, as well as with the impulse to the parliamentary proceedings of the bill that develops Royal Decree 6 / 2011 should definitely be pushed, "said Antonio Sevilla.

Moreover, the head of the Ministry of Public Works and Planning stated that it will begin modifying the General Plan for the transfer of the old slaughterhouse, downgrade industrial to residential use and increasing the floor area to be viable transportation of that installation.

However, Sevilla said that previously, the Segura River Basin must address the channeling of a promenade, a procedure that the City is committed to apply as soon as possible.

Regarding road infrastructure, Sevilla reported that the draft South Central Lorca Round continues its administrative process "to be made compatible with the emergency actions of the roads like the parish."
