The Joint Commission approved at its second meeting over 2.2 million euros to aid earthquake 462 Lorca (24/08/2011)

The Insurance Compensation Consortium has already approved 18,982 cases, 70 percent of those submitted for amounts above EUR 138 million

The Joint Committee established by Royal Decree Law 6 / 2011 for which urgent action to repair damage caused by earthquakes of last May in Lorca today approved 462 grants to people affected by earthquakes in the amount of 2,205,427.80 euros.

To date, the total approved aid amounts to 3,135,920 euros.

Such aid, 367, amounting to EUR 1,625,400.84, are for home repair, and other 95, 580,026.96 euros, for the payment of rent for relocation.

Note that the approved aid records correspond to 119 uninsured, representing one third of the total.

The Commission, which was established last May 25 in Lorca, has the task of assessing and quantifying the aid granted to individuals by virtue of applications, lease, reconstruction, rehabilitation or repair of houses which constitute the habitual residence and to the replacement of household necessities.

In the meeting participated the two co-chairs of the same, the government delegate, Rafael Gonzalez, and the Minister of Public Works and Planning, Antonio Seville, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, and other representatives and technicians the three administrations.

The total aid cases handled amounted to 14,192, of which 12,375 correspond to repair homes, 1,006 are for rent, 699 for rebuilding houses and 112 for replacement appliances.

However, the Commission adopted last July to extend the deadline for applications from October until the end of the year.

Moreover, the meeting was informed that the Insurance Compensation Consortium was approved until August 23 18 982 applications, representing 70 percent of the 24,660 submitted, which have brought a compensation 138.2 million euros.

Speed ​​and accuracy in processing aid

Commission members thanked the work of the regional administration officials, who during this month of August have continued to work in solving records and municipal technicians and the collaboration between government has expressed at the correct incident previous commission held last July.

Likewise, the Insurance Compensation Consortium has opened an office in Lorca to further accelerate the processing of cases.
