The Minister of Culture, Ángeles González-Sinde, has opened this evening in the Heritage Days Risk: the Lorca earthquake which analyzes the strategies and protocols for action to tackle emergency situations like the one that occurred in the past the city of Murcia March.
The Conference, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the City of Murcia and Lorca, to be held on Wednesday 28.
The sessions are divided into two blocks.
First we will present similar experiences in other countries like Italy, Ecuador, Chile and Mexico which have suffered serious earthquakes.
In a second section will address the specific case of Lorca, with particular reference to the importance that the estate has on economic development through cultural tourism.
The earthquake of Lorca
Successive earthquakes in Lorca in May last serious damage and loss occurred in the Cultural Heritage of Lorca and were affected almost all of the listed buildings of cultural interest and other property.
During the conference discussed the seriousness of the situation and that cultural tourism has great strategic importance as an engine of development of the territory, and how rapid response and effective coordination of all cultural leaders was crucial to prevent further damage.
The action lines short and medium term have been collected in the Recovery Plan for the Cultural Heritage Lorca, promoted by the Ministry of Culture.
During the conference will also discuss the need to implement preventive measures to limit the consequences of such catastrophic situations, and to develop action protocols common to all administrations.
