The City Council initiated an information campaign so that all citizens know how to react to emergency situations (17/11/2011)

This is an initiative that includes briefings with neighborhood associations, women and youth, as well as students and trade unions, Chamber of Commerce and groups of dependent people.

Councilman City Council Emergency Lorca, Eduardo Sanchez, has been reported that the city council, through the Municipal Emergency Services, will implement a "Comprehensive Plan for Self" with the main objective to make known to all lorquina population and especially the groups of children, elderly and disabled, a series of guidelines and recommendations that enable them to your own family emergency plan, tailored to your needs, which is reflected in how you should act before, during and after an emergency or disaster.

This Plan includes a series of training activities to be done to inform a broad battery of entities, as is the case of:

Neighborhood Associations.

Women's Associations.

Students, teachers and AMPAS.

Will be carried out in schools and colleges as well as on the campus of our city.

Youth Associations.

Chamber of Commerce.

Trade Unions.

Associations and Groups of Disabled and Dependents.

Eduardo Sanchez noted that the Plan begins this month and runs until spring 2013.

We also have a permanent support telephone number 24 hours through 112 to assist families with any questions on how to develop the plan.

What to do before, during and after an emergency

Emergency Councillor has stated that this initiative derives from the fact that our town is in an area where there is possibility of emergencies or disasters by earthquakes, wildfires, floods, human concentrations, derived from the transport of dangerous goods incidents in urban areas, railway accident, accident, among other possible incidents.

Exposure to such events, particularly earthquakes and floods, is tragically reflected throughout history.

When an emergency or disaster as both victims involved in the rescue must know the proper way to conduct at all times, in order to optimize their responses in the face of self-protection.

Sessions will consist of theoretical and practical assumptions given by psychologists.

This is an activity aimed at professionals from the media.

Performance of the media in disasters.

Explanation of the protection plan and psychosocial intervention in disasters and emergencies.

Analysis and discussion of the role of media in specific situations.

Other activities:

1) Women's Associations Proceedings:

Losses from disasters have tripled in the last thirty years.

Continued action of the community can help change these trends.

Women play a key role in this process, it can increase public awareness about the risks and motivate others to take protective measures.

In addition, women must always be on the basis of any preventive security policy, as this is what is usually closer to the most vulnerable populations in emergency situations, such as children and the elderly.

1-1) Goals:

The main objective is to foster in women self-protective behavior and behavioral repertoires incu1car designed to handle stressful situations with injuries and prevent risky behavior knowing.

For this aim the following specific objectives:

- That women know what to do before, during and after unaemergencia.

- Helping women cope with fear and anxiety.

- Teaching women a real hoist a Family Emergency Plan.

- Report reactions to disasters related to age of children, and how to help children to reduce anxiety.

- Teaching alertante act as the first.

- Providing Women First Aid knowledge.

2) Course of physical and psychological self.

Sessions will be provided with flexible hours (to be agreed with the stakeholders of each association) in local partnerships.

The course is fully participatory with a clear practical purpose.

The content and methodology of the three modules of the course is as follows:

Module 1.

Will be conducted by technicians from Municipal Emergency Services and will last two hours.

At this time, we will analyze the risk factors that produce and how to prevent domestic accidents, as well as instruction on the theory and management of fire extinguishers with a fire fighting practice.

Module 2 .- It is taught by psychologists Municipal Emergency Services, members of the Disaster Psychological Intervention in the Region of Murcia.

Will last for two hours in which a fully participatory behaviors will be reviewed following the documentation to make the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and the World Health Organization.

Basically we will address the following points:

1.

Identification and location of threats.

2.

Emotions in the emergence in adults and children.

3.

Plan of action before, during and after the emergency.

4.

Testing and evaluation plan.

Module 3.

Will be given by paramedics and have theoretical and practical part.

The duration is four hours and the content is as follows:

1.

Adult Basic Life Support.

2.

Basic life support in children.

3.

Practical cases.

This is an activity aimed at groups of women's associations and districts Lorca, 8 hours with three modules:

1.

Prevention of domestic accidents and use of fire extinguishers.

2.

Do not be scared, be prepared!

3.

First aid.

3) Program of lectures and practices in schools on the self emergency situations.

1.

Evacuation drills in schools.
