Fire Consortium Fire Fighting and Rescue Region of Murcia (CEIS) based on Lorca are making property inspections in the town, including along the route of the parades biblical passion of Lorca, to check its condition and detecting elements presenting a risk of falling.
The aim of this initiative is to prevent falling debris from buildings potentially affected as a result of the earthquake on May 11, and ensure safety during the celebration of Holy Week, declared in 2007 International Tourist Interest.
A group of three firefighters with two vehicles of the Consortium, in collaboration with members of the local police under the supervision of technicians from the Department of Planning, are desarrolllando inspection work in some 300 facades of several buildings in the municipality's urban core.
The buildings reviewed are in the Avenida Juan Carlos I, Calle Lope Gisbert, Perez Casas, Nogalte, Cuesta de San Francisco, poet Carlos Mellado, Poplar Street, Log, Santo Domingo and Pool.
The work, carried out between 10:00 and 18:00, consist in the supervision of buildings to spot potential weaknesses in the facade and, if so, remove items that could pose a risk to people and undertake the necessary improvements.
