Councillor of Education of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, has reported that its municipal area has announces a contest for solidarity among schoolchildren phrases of the municipality to be included in the sculpture "Consuelo" by sculptor Antonio Lopez Soler Lorca in memory of those affected by earthquakes.
Specifically, the contest may participate solidarity phrases alumni / ae of primary education for all public and subsidized schools supported with public funds, the municipality of Lorca, proposing original sentences, short extension (maximum 10 words) in the reflecting feelings of solidarity, optimism, encouragement and constructive citizens Lorca, after the events that happened in our city as a result of earthquakes of last May.
Each student may submit up to two sentences on March 9, 2012 at 12 hours.
The sentences will be delivered to the Department of Education and University City of Lorca, in the Plaza of Spain, 3rd floor, in a sealed envelope, under a pseudonym.
Within this envelope will be another sealed envelope with student data: name, age, school name, grade, and phone number.
The competition has established three categories for the three cycles of primary education, with the awards that the 6 selected sentences (2 per cycle) was recorded, along with the name and age of its author, in the sculpture "Consuelo "and the winners will receive a diploma and two separate sets of books and will be invited to the opening ceremony of the sculpture.
The jury will consist of the Councillor for Education and University, the author of the sculpture, the Coordinators of the municipal public library, a language teacher in a secondary school in Lorca, the psychologist of Emergency Services and Education Coordinator
Finally, the City Council has stated that any citizen may propose a sentence out of competition which may be selected for inclusion in the monument, sending it to esculturalorca@hotmail.com.
Jodar explained that "it is a sculpture of a six feet tall in bronze representing not only the catastrophe suffered by the town of Lorca and its neighbors, but above all a meeting of the feelings arising out of this fact and as a tribute to hope, solidarity, integrity and brotherhood. "
Antonio Lopez Soler explained that "in addition, not only must we speak of a sculpture as such, but it is an integral art project. Artistic creation of this work is donated by the artist while the cost of materials of this work is provided mostly by Aquagest Murcia.
