The City of Lorca Lorca invited to be members in the Department of Civil Protection Volunteers (03/05/2012)

The Consistory will train stakeholders on preventive measures and promotion of self-protection, as well as relief and rescue measures in emergency situations.

Participants will be compensated with tickets to events municipal sports facilities.

Emergency Councillors and Citizenship of the City of Lorca, Eduardo Sanchez and Ana Maria Lidón, presented this morning the campaign to attract volunteers for the Volunteer Service for Civil Protection, a move that is part of the Protection and Intervention Plan Psychosocial Disaster and Emergency Situations.

Sanchez explained that the Consistory taught courses for stakeholders to disseminate preventive measures in their environment and promotion of self-protection in situations such as fires, earthquakes, hailstorms and floods, as well as relief and rescue measures in emergency situations.

"The goal is to train a team of Lorca able to intervene urgently in their immediate environment as partners under the guidance of professionals in potential emergency situations or those other activities that are demanded by professional teams of emergency" said the mayor.

Lidón said "this program participants will be compensated with one point for every hour of volunteering that make each person.

These points can then be accumulated to redeem for tickets to local events including tickets to sporting venues, theater, concerts, ...

The mayor explained that enrollment in this project of public participation can be made from 4 May to 3 June in the municipal website www.lorca.es or the Office of Citizen Participation located in the Cultural Center of the City.
