Lorca becomes the focus of the analysis of the environmental impact of human activities (22/05/2012)

This is an initiative organized by Club Murcia Emas, Global Nature Fund and the city of Lorca, framed in the European campaign "Business & Biodiversity".

Councilman Environment of the City of Lorca, Melchor Morales, inaugurated this morning the conference "Business and Biodiversity", which puts our city at the heart of analyzing the impact of human activities in nature.

Morales noted that the various initiatives undertaken during 2010 in the International Year of Biodiversity and the new EMAS Regulation in relation to key indicators, we face new challenges for how to assess the impact on biodiversity of our activities, products and services.

We investigate how our company is related to biodiversity and the services that ecosystems provide and how we can better integrate our company into the environment and its natural cycles, for mutual benefit.

The mayor of the Environment has indicated that regardless of the environment where there is a company there are many actions, initiatives and projects at your fingertips that let you contribute to the preservation of biodiversity.

Also coordinated work and relationship with entities active in the field of environmental conservation and biodiversity can benefit all parties involved, creating opportunities for collaboration, learning and mutual benefit.

The objectives of the meeting:

- To discuss the difficulties they encounter organizations in setting and assessing their environmental impact in relation to biodiversity.

- Promote the use of tools and solutions to facilitate the evaluation of the impact of business on biodiversity, including through the adoption of specific indicators.

- Conceptualize and respond to the adoption of the new core indicator required by the new regulation EMAS III (m2).

- View examples of integration of biodiversity management in the company in natural, rural and urban areas.

The time-sharing is addressed to those responsible for environmental management ISO 14001 or EMAS companies, representatives of nonprofit organizations working on environmental conservation and biodiversity.
