Councillor of Education of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, this morning visited the facilities of the municipal library "Barnes Pilar" which will be officially reopened to the public this afternoon following completion of repairs to damage caused by the earthquakes last year.
Francisco Montiel said that "we really wanted to put back to Lorca available to all our library. This is a step toward regaining normalcy in Lorca. From today the service will be offered in the same conditions as before earthquakes, is great news for all citizens who invite you to visit the library to see how it has been. "
Councilman Education recalled that on June 1 this facility reopened in part, with the provision of study room.
It was the first facility that began operation in this building, a fact for which he was working against time, as he approached the final exam period in schools.
This effort was rewarded, and all Lorca could make use of the study room, fully equipped and recovered for damages suffered as a result of earthquakes.
This space has 80 places for students.
Francisco Montiel has indicated that the restoration of this municipal service took to complete the classification, arrangement and placement of the 30,000 books that were properly stored and distributed 3,000 boxes.

The works at the headquarters of the library Pilar Barnes have seen demolition and debris removal, cleaned up and repair of cracks, replacement of ceilings, fix partitions, replacement of damaged windows, carpentry work, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC, arrangements in the elevator and repair and replacement of the facade in places where was damaged.
The council has indicated that while we could not use these facilities, users had continued to receive the loan service of books on the bookmobile installed in the Plaza Real, in addition to municipal libraries of the Institute and Prince of Asturias located in the districts .
Music and snacks to celebrate
The reopening of the library officer "Pilar Barnes" will take place this afternoon at 20:30 hours and includes the performance of young artists Lorca and tasting of typical products, with the cooperation of hotel establishments located in their environment and the residents of Plaza Real, who also wanted to participate prominently in this reopening.
