The Community will invest some four million euros to rebuild the Institute Ramón Arcas (10/07/2012)

The Minister of Education, Training and Employment, Constantine Sotoca, today the reconstruction project of the Institute of Secondary Education Ramón Arcas, one of the centers severely affected by earthquakes, and with an investment of approximately four million.

Sotoca, who was accompanied by the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, highlighted the efforts being made by the regional government in the reconstruction of Lorca after the earthquakes, and reminded that "only in the recovery of affected educational heritage has already invested more than 10 million euros. "

To all this we must add the nine million euros which will involve the reconstruction of the two institutions most affected, the Ramón Arcas and Ros Giner, whose processing is already well advanced.

The Department aims to encompass the time when the construction of both institutes, and streamline all the procedures for each to start construction later this year.

"These are projects of great magnitude, with a very complex processing," said Sotoca, who said they are "working flat out to get them out to tender soon."

During construction, the students of Ramón Arcas be distributed to other facilities that could be recovered of the Institute, the University Campus and the Integrated Training Center Lorca.

Specifically, students in first, second and third ESO, together with those of the Professional Training Program will be maintained at the Institute.

Meanwhile, those of 4 of the ESO, Diversification and Bachelor will be on the University campus, and the Integrated Center will be located all students in vocational training cycles.

The Education Minister thanked the school community in the municipality "response and understanding that are showing" and their participation in the project, "as they have made some proposals for improvement have been addressed in the drafting of it."

More and better space

The Minister stressed the improvement to the center will have a brand new units that "will be connected to the main building through two gateways in the first and second floor."

They are 3,000 square meters of plot that have been released following the demolition of the damaged center.

There will house the new building "will have more and better spaces for the entire educational community Ramón Arcas," said the counselor.

Specifically, on the ground floor spaces will be located three multipurpose classrooms, labs, classroom technology and multipurpose room.

On the first floor, and five multi-purpose rooms, will be the music room, an art, a classroom workshop, two classrooms and two seminars diversification.

Finally, the second floor will have seven more classrooms, computer room and four classrooms workshop.
