The Socialist Party calls on the CARM aid for owners of farms affected by the flood (28/10/2012)

The Municipal Socialist Group spokesman, Manuel Soler, has begun his appearance recalling that "the 28th of September, there were heavy rains in the region of Murcia.

In a tight time, they came to record 212 liters per square meter in Puerto Lumbreras and up to 177 liters per square meter in some areas of Lorca, resulting in flooding in the towns of Lorca, Puerto Lumbreras and to a lesser extent, in Totana.

The biggest losses undoubtedly have been the eight resident lives in our region.

Six of them have died in Murcia and two in Almería, all because of the floods. "

"Thousands of hectares have been affected by this disaster, resulting in the loss, in many cases, of the total agricultural production and irrigation infrastructure.

Between 8,000 and 10,000 head of pigs, sheep, goats and cattle have drowned at farm "complete.

The Socialist councilor stressed that "agricultural insurance enjoyed significant support from the central and regional administrations to subscribe for the different risk policies employed by farmers and ranchers.

However, because of the different cuts that have been happening from both the National Government and the autonomous region, the aid in question are almost gone.

This has meant that if I was being below the level of assurance and livestock farms, is now almost zero, with the exception of insurance removal of animal carcasses. "

Lorquino The mayor said that "under the situation just outlined, the Municipal Socialist Group will file a motion in the regular full to be held this coming Monday.

In this motion asking the City of Lorca to urge the Government of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia to advocate with the Government of Spain that owners of farms or ranches meet certain conditions to qualify for aid or compensation for damage caused by the floods in Lorca, Puerto Lumbreras and Totana the 28th of September. "

Soler Miras has clarified that "the conditions are: 1).

That at the time of the disaster, proving to have signed the agricultural insurance policy with coverage for flood risk.

2).

While the contract term in effect, if the policy has not been hired, the owner of the business can justify engaged in any of the previous two years.

3).

If there is such a hiring policy, the owner of the farm or livestock establishes that he signed the insurance policy for risks other than the risk of flood coverage in that year or the previous one.

4).

And extraordinarily, if you do not meet any of the above requirements are entitled to aid those who hire farm insurance new crops that will be implemented in at least the next two years. "
