A lecture series will address the new findings discovered in the medieval shrine of the Virgen de las Huertas, Castle and Jewry (29/10/2012)

The Councillor for Culture and Celebrations of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez, has reported that the city council has organized a lecture series set within the events planned to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Municipal Archaeological Museum.

The lecture series will take place from Wednesday October 31, and its planned program is as follows:

Wednesday October 31:

"The battle of Las Navas de Tolosa. 800 years later."

Will be given by D.

Francisco Garcia Fitz, Professor of Medieval History at the University of Extremadura.

Wednesday, November 21:

"Present and future of Lorca Castle through archeology", by D.

Jorge Alejandro Rodriguez Eiroa, Professor of Medieval History at the University of Murcia.

Wednesday December 12:

"Jewry and Jews in late medieval Lorca."

Taught by D.

Arteseros Veas Francis, Professor of Medieval History at the University of Murcia.

"Results of recent archaeological excavations in the Sanctuary of the Virgen de las Huertas (Lorca, Murcia)", by D.

Andrés Martínez Rodríguez, Director of the Archaeological Museum of Lorca, Pujante Ms. Ana Martinez, an archaeologist and Ms. Juana Ponce Garcia, Head of Unit of the Archaeological Museum of Lorca.

These are three people who are taking care of the tasks related to the consolidation and archaeological process being carried to term in the Sanctuary of the Virgen de las Huertas by a grant from the Ministry of Culture.

Sandra Martinez noted that the conference is scheduled to take place in the Cultural Hall Cajamurcia from 20:00 pm, and is organized by the City Council by the Centre for Medieval Studies and the Foundation Cajamurcia.

For the first few weeks of next year's planned two conferences, which will complete the cycle.

These papers will focus on the pictorial program of the deposit of Limerick, which will be provided by the professor of the University of Murcia Alicia Fernandez Diaz, and another on "The Life Andalusia Lorca, S. XII and XIII" that impart the Municipal Archaeological Museum director, Andres Martinez.
