The mayor noted that the seven coats Lorca discovered in cave painting motifs are nestled in the mountainous northwest, Sierra del Gigante and Culebrina, territory where the traces of our past is delving into the beginnings of Prehistory.

The first evidence of rock art lorquino were found early this century by Abbé Breuil (1933) in Labrador Uncle sites and hostels.

After several decades, the only reason that is still preserved in the shelter of Uncle Labrador, is a large human representation with arms raised in an attitude of prayer and triangular lower body.

Its origin could be medieval, possibly related Tirieza castle, the remains of which are raised in the vicinity.

A few years ago rediscovered the shelter of the House by members of the Friends of the Archaeological Museum of Lorca.

The two human figures are represented with arms and legs spread and open.

These two motifs painted in red and far between, are at the bottom of a big coat perfectly oriented which overlooks the broad valley of the River Vélez or Corneros.

In 1990 there were two new stations nearby cave painting Marsh Valdeinfierno: The Mojao coat and coat of Los Gavilanes.

The first of these sets was painted on the limestone walls of two small cavities that open to the passageway leading to the river Luchena set.

The central part of the eastern niche is occupied by a naturalist hunting scene, where a single goalkeeper slim body and having a great arc, is headed for a group of four quadrupeds.

A goat with a prominent full antler panel naturalistic style.

Surrounding this scene there are several larger schematic figures (anthropomorphic, points, vertical lines, a cruciform ancoriforme grounds) also painted red.

The hunting scene is a reflection of a way of life, a career man having a large bow and arrow attacks a herd of animals.

It reinforces the idea of goalkeeper movement toward the group of animals the presence of a hit or thrown back hair loose.

Unfortunately after five months of discovery all the paintings of this coat were intentionally destroyed in an act of vandalism.

The paintings are from the time of discovery of Cultural Interest (BIC), ie, historical monuments, going to be protected by Law 16/1985 on Spanish Historical Heritage, so when we visit a shelter with no cave paintings we play them, or wetting and if we see that someone does, it is our obligation to communicate what happened or responsible authorities, because the heritage belongs to everyone and we are all responsible for keeping it.

The entire coat representations Los Gavilanes are schematic and are painted mostly in red.

In 1995 there were three new sets with paintings on coats and Las Covaticas The Esperilla, in the councils of the Culebrina and Fontanares.

The Covaticas paints are in two separate coats about 200 meters.

The paintings on the Covaticas I are located in a natural niche among poorly conserved motifs identified a possible quadruped seems.

In The Covaticas II the reason that best distinguishes a cruciform painted red as some researchers have dated historical period.

Some of the symbolic motifs parietal own schematic rock art (ramiformes, oculados) have been found painted on stone and bone support in the archaeological excavations of the Glorieta de San Vicente in 2002.

One of these objects was introduced as part of a funeral ritual burial of the first half of the third millennium BC

The paintings are from the time of discovery of Cultural Interest (BIC), with Monument category, going to be protected by Law 16/1985 on Spanish Historical Heritage.

The importance of Levantine cave paintings made were declared a World Heritage Site in the plenary of the UNESCO held in Kyoto (Japan) in November 1998 ..
