The Mayor laid the first stone of the Monument to Volunteer Anonymous (05/12/2012)

This is a project that starts from GEAC Association, composed of representatives of professional groups of emergencies.

It will build on the discussion of access to the Garden of the Wheel, the great significance that keeps this space with respect to earthquakes.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, attended this morning to start work on the location of the Anonymous Volunteer Monument, a project that starts from GEAC Association, composed of representatives of professional groups with emergency which seeks honor all the volunteers who participated in the recovery of Lorca after the earthquake last year.

Through this initiative is to create a monument to remember forever all the people who worked on Lorca and Lorca during those difficult days in order for that to happen for a long time continue forever remembering the selfless and altruistic work carried out by all these people.

The monument was designed by the painter and sculptor lorquino Gomáriz Angel Guillen.

Remember that from the group promoting the initiative has prevailed that it is a monument funded through financial contributions from the residents of Lorca, constituting a tribute to volunteers from Lorca.

The Mayor explained that "the City Council support and applaud this initiative citizen has an end as beautiful as it is to acknowledge the work of professionals and volunteers who worked for the City of the Sun without rest, and that adds up to the plate to make a year placed in the City Hall that under the word "Gratitude" supposed sense thanks to all the efforts that were made by Lorca. "

Anonymous The Volunteer Memorial will be erected on the round access to the Garden of the Wheel, the great significance that keeps this space with respect to the May 2011 earthquake.

Remember that the Garden Wheel housed thousands of Lorca during that first night, and that there was installed the first of the camps.

In the Garden of the wheel worked hundreds of volunteers who wanted to be with Lorca in the most difficult times, members of law enforcement, emergency, medical, technical and dozens of anonymous people who gave their time and effort to Lorca.

Francisco Jodar has also indicated that this monument is called to be the memory of a collective, altruistic and unpayable, a job performed by thousands of anonymous volunteers Lorca, and that from this city will always remember.

I have a memory of a very special thanks to everyone who joined us after the May 11 earthquake and were an unavoidable factor in the recovery of Lorca.
