In the same disclosed the research project being carried out in the castle of Lorca, noting that it is a major project and long-term, however, has already offered its first results.

Archaeological excavations carried out so far have brought to light not only different areas of Moorish fortress city of Lorca (who was the main urban center of Tudmir cora until the eleventh century) and an interesting archaeological horizon corresponding to the phase Spanish conquest of the fortress in the thirteenth century, but, especially, the Jewish Quarter inside established in the XIV and XV, which highlights an area of ​​craft production and a range of domestic spaces.

These findings represent the first scientific approach to the archaeological potential of the eastern sector of the site, which is expected to act as a connecting link between other spaces previously excavated and incorporated into the workshop of Time.

Sandra Martinez has also indicated that the article points out that Lorca Castle interventions had been since the late twentieth century, in order to prepare it for the establishment of a leisure.

With this intention, were carried out archaeological activities between 1999 and 2002 and profound works of consolidation and restoration, focusing on the western side of the castle.

In the early 70s of the XX century and underwent restoration architectural intervention in the Torre del Ram (directed by architect Pedro Sanmartin Moro) which served as the Director of the Museum archaeologist Provincial de Murcia, D.

They were the first steps in a busy road since then, because since the nineties of the last century have been ongoing interventions, mostly conducted in the framework of the aforementioned castle restoration projects for tourism.

If in 1994 it gave the first steps in modern archaeological knowledge Lorca Castle, with the excavation of a large landfill late Roman and early systematic surveys inside the enclosure amurallado3, archaeological interventions in the grounds of the castle multiplied dramatically between 1999 and 2003, as a result of the recent execution of leisure space called the Fortaleza del Sol in recent years (2002-2009), the project to build the Parador hotel in castle hill returned to building momentum archaeological interventions in the castle.
