The City Council provides a venue for free Astrada Association (12/06/2013)

The company on Thursday offered a lecture entitled "Autism. Principles for good intervention", which will serve as a presentation of the activities carried out by Astrada in Lorca.

The Councillor for Development Cooperation of the City of Lorca, Antonio Lopez, with the Director General, José Manuel Santos, reported this morning that the city council has given a free venue for the association "Astrada" which is located in the called "House of the oenegés".

Moya Lopez explained that it is an entity that has recently started working in our city and currently serving education in schools and speech therapy, focussing on the care of children with autism.

We're talking about an organization that brings together and assists families in their midst who have a member with Pervasive Developmental Disorder, and has as main purpose to improve the quality of life of this group.

The objectives of the association are to maximize the capabilities of people with Autism Spectrum through comprehensive care, from prevention and specific intervention to achieve better quality of life, and to intervene with families (reception, information counseling, training) to achieve family unity as a basis for social integration.

The Development Cooperation mayor explained that part of FEAPS Astrada Murcia and Confederate Autism Spain.

The services Astrada will pay in Lorca are speech therapy, which is offered on Tuesdays and judges in the House of oenegés, an activity that will be expanded next year with the launch of social skills groups.

Astrada currently is completing performances in schools San Fernando, Alfonso X and Pilar Soubrier and the Institute Jose Ibanez Martin.

We are talking about integration work, and tracking open classroom children who have this disease.

Antonia Lopez is anticipated that this partnership will host a conference entitled "Autism. Principles for good intervention", which will take place tomorrow from 18:00 pm in the Assembly Hall of the House of oenegés.

Astrada consists of more than 300 families located throughout the Region of Murcia, which form its Assembly.

As derived from its Statutes, there is a Board of Directors whose primary function is the governing and representative of the Association.

To develop plans designed by the Board Astrada has a professional group of about a hundred people, and an important group of volunteers.
