The young Lorca may participate in a European project biannual reduction of racism and intolerance along with other five countries (13/06/2013)

The Office of International Mobility and European projects of the Youth Council of the City of Lorca, with the collaboration of the Intercultural Cazalla Association, during this period promote youth activities in Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Poland and Lithuania.

Youth Councillor City of Lorca, Augustine calls, today unveiled the new European project "CHARM" (English charm), which has joined the International Mobility Office and European projects of the municipal area, in coordination the Cazalla Intercultural Association and will allow young Lorca participate during the next two years in conjunction with youth activities promoted Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Poland and Lithuania.

To do the June 9 to June 13 has been developed in Lorca the second international meeting of the partners involved and the first training course where you shared the results of research carried out in all countries participating in the project.

The main purpose of the "CHARM", funded by the Directorate General of Justice of the European Commission with a budget of 500,000 euros, is transforming youth work in Europe stripping it of dangerous stereotypes and also ensure that racism and other forms of intolerance are not manifest in projects for youth and other youth activities that are carried out in Europe.

The project aims to raise awareness of the fight against racism and the promotion of fundamental rights between organizations, cooperatives, groups and youth centers that are not specifically related to these topics but they usually work with young people, supporting their active participation in society and influence their values, attitudes and behaviors.

Through seminars, exchange of experiences and development of materials, work with youth organizations in fields as diverse as the environment, active participation, art, leisure, etc. and will challenge them to explore their own contribution to the building a tolerant Europe and the implementation of fundamental rights in their work with youth.

The target group of the project includes youth organizations in Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Spain, Poland and Lithuania but also in other EU member states.

The project will directly benefit 24 youth workers to develop their skills on planning, implementation and evaluation of seminars and training courses on fundamental rights and combating xenophobia and racism, over 120 youth organizations from 6 countries mentioned that participate in the formation of their countries, more than 360 young people from 36 youth organizations and at least 50 representatives of youth organizations from all over Europe to participate in online training courses.

Expected outcomes of the project we can highlight two international workshops for at least 48 participants, a training of trainers course for 24 trainers internationally, a final conference for 50 participants, 6 research on racism and rights at youth organizations in each partner countries, 12 training courses for 25 participants each, 36 local workshops for 20 youth or youth representatives each, online learning courses for 50 participants and 6 meetings of visibility and dissemination of results in each of the countries as well as catalogs of tools and strategies to involve youth organizations in the fight against racism and the promotion of fundamental rights and other guides who collected the work and findings of the project for later broadcast.
