The Community advances in the bidding for the renovation of the neighborhood of La Viña de Lorca (22/06/2013)

The Ministry of Public Works and Planning advances in the bidding for the actions of urban renewal in the neighborhood of La Viña de Lorca, the deadline for submission of tenders is now completed and has a budget of nine million euros.

This was stated today the Director General of Planning and Housing, Yolanda Muñoz, during the ceremony of laying the first stone of the buildings Domus Aurea and Vine New Lorca located in this neighborhood.

Yolanda Muñoz said that the Ministry will initiate the evaluation of projects submitted by the various companies in order to award the works as soon as possible.

The work will consist in the renewal of urban infrastructure, the release of public space and the pedestrian road in order to promote accessibility, allow connectivity between neighborhoods, as well as performances of energy efficiency and sustainability.

It also seeks maximum integration between city and nature by integrating the urban landscape with the introduction and upgrading of infrastructure to contribute to energy savings.

The project also aims to strengthen the unity and image of this neighborhood.

The Community also includes actions in the neighborhoods of San Fernando, San Diego, Alfonso X, San Jose, San Pedro and other areas of the barrios Altos, as well as the works of Lorca Castle accessibility.

The total investment of the Community for this set of urban renewal activities reaches a staff of approximately 53 million euros for 2013-2014.

This, said the director, "the Community aims to facilitate economic development, trade and mobility, with infrastructure to ensure full accessibility, and regain the overall image of the city."

Reconstruction of the city

Yolanda Muñoz explained that the beginning of the reconstruction of the buildings Domus Aurea and New Vineyard rises to 644 demolished homes in Lorca after the earthquakes that are already in the process of rebuilding, of the 1,150 that were demolished as a result of the catastrophe.

The two properties totaling 116 apartments and 142 garages and redevelopment projects have been handled by two separate special internal reform plans (PERI).

The PERI has increased the maximum height and building depth, which will gain height and now have five floors.
