The Youth Council are looking for volunteers to participate in an exchange program with Kenya and Nepal (18/07/2013)

It is an activity of the International Mobility Office Hall of our city.

The activities will take place over five months in Nepal and six months in Kenya.

The deadline for applications is open until 28 July.

Youth Councillor City of Lorca, Augustine Llamas, reported that the municipal area, through the International Mobility Office Consistory, seeks volunteers for the project called "Learning the Community Development".

Llamas explained that this is a project funded by the European Commission in the framework of the Youth in Action program, which integrates the Intercultural Cazalla associations, CADIF KENYA and Volunteers Initiative Nepal Nepalese.

Youth Councillor said that this project is a European Volunteer to support the development of regions Kisusu Jitpur in Nepal and Kenya.

The main objective is to support marginalized communities in these regions, especially women and children, through educational programs that promote equality, economic welfare and basic human rights.

The activities will take place over five months in Nepal and six months in Kenya.

During these months, 16 volunteers from Lorca and Marche (Italy) will have the opportunity to develop their skills and competencies through coexistence with different cultures and intercultural cooperation with a team led by professionals and supervised by mentors that will help the a volunteer to achieve the project objectives and adapt to the economic, political and social development.

Flames Augustine stressed that Nepal will work with six schools and a children's club, whose aim is to explore the hidden potential of children and help them develop skills, promote a healthy lifestyle and the inclusion and active participation of children and youth.

Also try to make the local community aware of the children who are often ignored and excluded.

In Kenya collaborate with six secondary schools and 3 primary schools.

Will be supported in choosing careers, will help young people who are looking for a job and also those who want to change their career or start their own business.

Support will be provided in writing CV or cover letter, interview preparation, etc..

The volunteer or contribute also to develop activities to promote human rights for children.

The volunteer will also work with orphanages through non formal, organizing camps, workshops and games and also providing care and seeking funding.

The mayor said that in Kenya the project volunteers will support the HIV / AIDS, counseling, testing, promoting community awareness.

Also help develop entrepreneurial skills and leadership of young people 10 to 35 years with HIV / aids.

It will also environmental education campaigns in schools.

Notably, the volunteers will have free room and board and also receive a small monthly amount in respect of "pocket money".

The return journey are covered up to 90%, having to take care or volunteer the remaining 10%.

The requirements to apply for a volunteer in this project are: to have 30 years or less, have a strong motivation to become a volunteer and be resident in the Region of Murcia (also accept applications from outside the Region of Murcia, but will to a list of substitutes, which will only be used if you do not find suitable candidates in their own region).

The deadline to register for this project is July 28.

The vacancies for Nepal (5 months from November 1) are 5, while for Kenya (six months from October 1) provides 3.
