The X Alfonso Lorca neighborhood will be transformed with the renewal of its infrastructure and the opening of new public spaces (02/11/2013)

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, Antonio Sevilla, said today that the Lorca area of ​​Alfonso X undergo a transformation next year thanks to the execution of the works contract recently approved urban renewal by the Governing Council.

Sevilla recalled that the Community "will invest more than 4.5 billion euros in a performance that covers an area of ​​65,000 square meters and will take place within 13 months".

The work involves the renewal of urban infrastructure such as pipes, drains or telecommunications pipeline, which will have a new layout for greater efficiency.

On the other hand, is to liberate public space and pedestrianization road to facilitate mobility between neighborhoods and gain accessibility.

"The goal is to improve the connection between the neighborhoods because it facilitates the social, economic and trade," said the counselor.

Rehabilitation work will also include facilities for culture and leisure, among which reforming sports landscaped areas and the construction of a local classroom as well as the implementation of children's play areas and for adults.

The project includes actions for energy efficiency and sustainability.

Performances

Besides the works already authorized in the neighborhoods of La Viña, Alfonso X and San Jose, are seen performances in San Fernando, San Diego, San Pedro and other uptown areas and access works to the Castle of Lorca.

The total investment of the Community for this set of urban renewal activities reaches 60 million euros for the period 2013-2014 under the loan signed with European Investment Bank (EIB).
