The start of construction of a new building in La Viña raised to 800 the number of homes in Lorca rebuilding (22/11/2013)

The Director General of Planning and Housing, Yolanda Muñoz, today attended the laying of the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the building Granada, located in the neighborhood of La Viña Lorca.

With these works, raised to 800 the number of properties for redevelopment in the city, in addition to the 70 that already have been re-inhabited.

The said building was processed as technical debris and aid corresponding rebuilding these homes already resolved by the Joint Commission, which was created by Royal Decree-Law 6/2011 on measures to repair the damage to Lorca earthquakes.

The property, located on Avenida de La Salud, 2 and 4, have six plants, which retain the same dimensions and orientation as they had to be demolished.

48 homes and four commercial premises will be rebuilt, but residents also have more parking spaces, building and decorative improvements, more efficient in terms of energy or acoustic insulation, housing and all in a sturdy building.

Comprehensive Regeneration

The director said that the works of comprehensive urban renewal in the neighborhood of La Viña are about to start and will have a lead time of twelve months.

To them the regional government has allocated 5.8 million euros.

Yolanda Muñoz explained that the actions consist "in the renewal of urban infrastructure, the release of public space and the pedestrianization of roads in order to promote accessibility, allow connection between neighborhoods and perform actions on energy efficiency and sustainability ".

Rehabilitation work will also include equipment for culture and leisure activities and energisers encourage social activity in the neighborhood.

This said Yolanda Muñoz, the Ministry of Public Works and Planning facilitates economic, commercial development and mobility, infrastructure and ensure full accessibility and recovery of the global image of the city are created.

It also seeks to achieve maximum integration between city and nature by integrating the urban landscape with the introduction and upgrading infrastructure to contribute to energy saving.

The project also aims to strengthen the unity and image of the neighborhood.

Urban renewal of the Vineyard is framed in the agreement with the City of Lorca to facilitate the realization of a wide range of activities of urban renewal in the Sun City, among which are the districts of San Fernando, San Diego, Alfonso X, San Jose, San Pedro and other areas of the Highlands neighborhoods and accessibility to the works of Lorca Castle.

The total investment of the Community for this set of actions for urban renewal reached the amount of 52.6 million euros for 2013-2014, under loan signed between the regional government and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
