Youth of Greece, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Poland, France, Romania, Hungary, Italy and Spain participating in a European exchange program in Lorca (14/02/2014)

The Mayor has offered a reception this morning to participants in this event, which brings in our city to 26 teachers and 24 students.

It is an initiative of the institute Sierra Almenara, of Puri.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar by the Councillor for Education, Francisco Montiel, received this morning fifty participants in the European Comenius Project.

This is an activity organized by the institute Sierra Almenara, of Puri.

Participants in the project will be in our city between 11 and 16 February.

We're talking about an activity called "Youth in search of the treasures of Europe" which brought together young people from 10 different countries, such as Greece, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Poland, France, Romania, Hungary, Italy and Spain.

They visited a total of 26 teachers and 24 students who are taken in by families of students of that school.

The Mayor stressed that such projects are those that contribute to the advancement of the educational model that our students benefit.

The training of students should not be limited to the acquisition of new knowledge, but must strive to establish paths connecting students internationally.

The establishment of new friendships and the opportunity to acerarse to other countries and learn about their culture and society is a key to personal growth and overall enrichment factor of the educational community.

Thanks to the development of such projects of European draft by the municipality gets teachers also emphasize the university profile we want to go gaining ground in all areas of our society.

And the university vocation should not be limited to the work of academic teaching, but transmit its universal vocation outreach for the different levels and degrees of education from catching the spirit of knowledge.

The project is marked as main objectives to discover the artistic, cultural, musical and natural treasures of each country, as well as improve the quality of education and research working together.

In addition, increase communication skills and knowledge of other languages, motivating educational community for language learning aims.

It also seeks to establish cultural relations with other European citizens.

Both the institute's director, José Pablo Pérez, as project coordinator, Yolanda Jimenez, and all teachers of the faculty have appreciated the good cooperation and foster parents of the students participating to young bulls come from European countries.
