The CIFE Lorca celebrates one hundred years of activity dedicated to the training and guidance of the agricultural and livestock sector (18/02/2014)

The Center for Integrated Agricultural Training and Experience (CIFE) Lorca, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, today celebrated the commemoration of its centenary as a research and training center dedicated to agriculture and livestock.

Directors of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, and Education, Universities and Employment, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, presided over the celebration of the center, which has the status of a National Reference Center in the field of livestock.

Cerda said the CIFE has "an experimental purpose and other training," adding that "helped to bring knowledge to the demands generated by farmers and ranchers."

The center opened on June 29, 1913 as Station General Agriculture, and in 1982 its powers were transferred to the region.

Today, it houses the District Agricultural Office of Lorca and the Integrated Training Center and Agricultural Experiences.

"It is supported by its quality and its experimental nature and training for jobs that are being made mainly for genetic improvement of livestock breeds center," said the agriculture minister, who highlighted the performances of artificial insemination and breeding improved flat Murcia, sheep, goats and horses won.

Meanwhile, Pedro Antonio Sánchez said: "The CIFE is the connection between training activities and professional, between business and education. Their classrooms are tools used by both young students formed for integration into employment as active farmers looking to improve their skills. "

CIFE facilities, which are also known as La Granja, the Center now have taps Selection (goats) and save Stallions with a base Insemination Equine, one of the most important in Spain.

In the field of training, this center has enabled the formal agricultural training to more than 2,000 graduates who are contributing to the development of the activity.
