Lorca City Council wishes to express its sincere gratitude to His Majesty Don Juan Carlos I, King of Spain for the past 39 years, champion of democracy and guaranteeing the most prosperous period of democratic government in our country.
Juan Carlos I has shown its commitment and closeness to Lorca at all times, being recalled his visits to the city, as Prince in May 1974 and as King in October 1994, the facilities at the Zarzuela Palace personalities and Lorca collective and tremendous interest in what was happening in this Sun City decided to reward much attention to the appointment of Honorary Mayor of Lorca.
This same closeness and dedication to service is apparent in the person who is called to succeed him as Head of State, HRH Prince Philip, who also have the maximum readiness to assume the Crown has proven over the years its strong commitment to this city.
Lorca especially remember visiting hours after the earthquake of 2011 occur when both the Prince and Princess Letizia gave us their love and encouragement in difficult times.
From City of Lorca reiterate our immense gratitude to His Majesty Don Juan Carlos I, and we are confident in the person of HRH Prince Philip as the best guarantee of the consolidation of parliamentary monarchy that has brought the period of maximum stability our nation over the past centuries.
