Propose the full City called "Sports Complex Felipe VI" the sports area arising from the renovation of the pavilion Europe (23/06/2014)

The Municipal Government recalls that the present King of Spain has been with Lorca in difficult times (chairing the memorial service for those killed in the earthquake) and celebrations (receiving the Gold Medal of Lorca in San Clemente).

Councilman Sports City of Lorca, Agustin Llamas, reported that the government team will propose at the next meeting of the full city council called "Sports Complex Felipe VI" to renovated facilities that previously formed the European Sports Complex .

Llamas explained that this is a proposition that has been raised this morning at the different political groups with municipal representation on the Board of Spokesmen, and will be elevated to the full next Monday, June 30.

Sports Councilman noted that in this way it is today paying tribute to the King of Spain, who has shown a special sensitivity to the topics of Lorca.

The most prominent examples include remembering their presence in the state funeral for the victims of the earthquakes in 2011 that hosted the fairgrounds in Santa Quiteria and the official reception a few months ago that offered to students, parents and teachers Pilar Soubrier public school, for which compensation after the earthquake spent 30,000 euros through Hesperia Foundation.

Philip VI, then there is Prince of Asturias, has also been present in our city in other events, such as the occasion of the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (17/11/2001).

Philip VI also traveled to our city November 20, 1992 to mark the 550th Anniversary of the Declaration of Lorca as Noble City, a visit in which he was granted the Gold Medal of the City and proceeded to opening the institute that bears his name.

In purely sporting level, the image of Philip VI is closely linked to the sport since his Spanish team flag bearer of our country in the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992.

Llamas Augustine stressed that this proposal seeks to obtain the consensus of other local groups, and it is a figure who, along with the flag and the official seal of our country, identifies and integrates all Spaniards.

It should be noted that the above sports facilities in question have been renovated almost entirely due to the serious structural damage that resulted in the complex earthquakes that hit the city in May 2011.
