The Ministry of Public Works invests in Lorca over 3.6 million in the urban redevelopment project in the district of San José (26/06/2014)

The Minister of Development, Public Works and Planning, Manuel Campos, today presided over the laying of the foundation stone for the works of urban renewal in the neighborhood of San Jose in Lorca, covering an area of ​​about 75,000 square meters and represent an excess of 3,670,000 euros investment.

This urban renewal project, the San Jose "will sport an entirely new look, creating a human habitat, accessible with its environment and the context in which it occurs and, ultimately, more sustainable," said Campos, who added that this process of renewal "It goes beyond the rehabilitation of what was destroyed, chasing overcome in all terrains and in all respects what I already had Lorca".

Social and commercial activity

The Minister of Development, Public Works and Planning, accompanied by the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, explained that the three main lines of action of the project will be the renovation of the street Pérez Casas, the redevelopment of the Plaza de San José and building a great collector, to solve the problem of rainwater.

One goal of the project is to meet the requirements of the Urban Council of Europe Charter.

For this, actions aimed at generating clean energy by installing solar panels, replacement of street lighting with LED lighting, the use of recycled materials for asphalt, installing pavement absorbing pollutants and points will be screened electric vehicle charging, and expansion of the water cycle with a network for irrigation throughout the neighborhood, totally independent of the supply of drinking water.
