The Youth Council undertakes a pioneer awareness program against racism to be held in Lorca during the next 17 months (02/07/2014)

Youth Councillor of the City of Lorca, Agustin Llamas, reported that the city council, in collaboration with the Cazalla Intercultural Association has organized a seminar entitled "The Invisible racism."

It is framed within the Lorca Libre project, funded by the Active Citizenship Programme of the European Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 activity.

Councilman Youth has stated that the main objective of the seminar is to reach a common understanding of what is invisible racism applied to local realities and priorities agenda both at the political and strategic level as everyday level in schools and in places where young people share spaces.

The aim is to define a methodology to make it visible and fight.

This will accommodate the town for 4 days at 24 different types of professionals working with young people in the Region of Murcia with multiple experiences in youth work.

Among the challenges for youth match analysis can point out the following:

Share your experiences and realities in relation to different types of violence they witness in their regular work.

Seek common solutions to the problem, sharing their views, best practices when prevent and combat it.

Learn from the experts on racism, methodologies, research on the subject, etc..

Know and define the invisible racism.

Augustine calls indicated that the seminar will be held from 2 to 6 July at the campus of Lorca (LCU).

We're talking about the first phase of a long-term project called "Lorca free of racism", which runs for 17 months and also include the above seminar, a training course to train 15 young social workers, educators and youth workers unemployed subsequently carried from October 2014 to May 2015 awareness workshops on racism and different types of discrimination in 6 institutes Lorca.

Also in the summer of 2015 will be held March 4-day retreats with 150 young people selected from the workshops to continue working in a non-formal setting topics already covered in the workshops in schools.

The last phase will be to create youth groups in each of the 6 institutes able to educate and inform in a timely manner to peers and colleagues on social issues.
