The Director General of Vocational Training, Joaquin Buendia, this morning visited the rehabilitation works of the Conservatory of Music 'Narciso Yepes', Lorca, which may reopen next year after to be damaged in the earthquakes that struck the city in 2011. Work began last January and is scheduled to end later this July.
During his visit, Joaquín Buendía was accompanied by the Councillor for Education of Lorca, Francisco Montiel and architect responsible for the project, Lorca Angel Ros Simon and representatives of the school management and the company in charge of reconstruction.
The Director General of Vocational Training welcomed recovery "of this fabulous eighteenth century building that housed the College of the Immaculate and is part of the rich heritage of Lorca."
The objective now is to restart his career Conservatory as normal from next September.
Accordingly, during the visit is planned the transfer process all material Conservatory, during which time he has been developing its activities in the College Ana Caicedo.
This transfer will occur during the last days of July.
"The works that end in the next few days will allow the music vibrate again within the walls of the Conservatory and its 500 students back to enjoy the great spaces and facilities where further expand his musical training," said Buendia.
The work now completed have been developed over the past six months and have had a budget of 700,000 euros.
Thanks to these works has managed to repair the serious damage that the earthquake occurred, especially in the dome and the exterior walls of the building.
In addition, work has allowed condition and improve some of the spaces and facilities of the Conservatory.
