Lorca opens new facilities for ASOFEM (24/03/2015)

The new center, opened by the Mayor, the Government Delegate and the Managing Director of IMAS, has 885 m2, including large multipurpose rooms, locker room, classrooms and rooms for individual attention.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, next to the Government in the Region of Murcia, Joaquín Bascuñana and the Managing Director of the Instituto Murciano Social Action of the CARM, Leopoldo Navarro, inaugurated this morning the new Day Centre for Persons with Mental Illness serving the ASOFEM lorquina Association.

It is modern and functional facilities located The Day Centre is located in the deputation of Puri, particularly in the Residential Torre del Obispo, which are built on municipal land of 6,000 square meters, assuming a total investment of 820,000 euros , of which the Ministry of Health and Social policy contributed 700,000 euros and 120,000 euros Autonomous Community.

Note that the center has 885 sq meters on one floor distributed in porch, common spaces, gym, two multipurpose rooms, staff room, three offices, living room, toilets, changing rooms, first aid room, office , pantry, storage, ... as well as equipped with three large courtyards that provide light and warmth to the room.

In view of the need in Lorca with a Day Centre for Persons with Mental Illness quality, the City Council saw the need to make available a model ASOFEM infrastructure so they could pay so important assistance.

Therefore they have carried out the necessary steps to change the order of the facility and to put this reference center available to those who both need.

The Day Centre began its journey with 24 seats occupied, the total of 25 contracted by the Instituto Murciano Social Action, IMAS.

However it has a capacity of 50 seats accredited, so you can accommodate more patients if necessary.

This ensures the future of the facility, as it is destined to become an indispensable tool for social care.

The facility has been ceded to ASOFEM to develop the magnificent management that has been accredited by them during their years of existence in the world of social participation.

In fact this infrastructure represents an important step forward for ASOFEM, with respect to the resources they had before.

The transition from the old premises to the new center will mean a shock that will allow them to multiply their ability to care for ill people.

The Mayor stated that "we are fully convinced that this Day Centre will become a vital space for both the sick and for the family and, of course, for professionals who here shall work. Hope Center meets its objectives and to become a useful tool for improved treatments and the development of the users ".
